A word on political correctness

Political correctness is everywhere and permeates all levels and layers of society, culture and conduct.

Political correctness describes language that appears calculated to provide a minimum of offense, particularly to the racial, cultural, or other identity groups being described. The concept typically refers to the English language, but is not exclusive to it. A text that conforms to the ideals of political correctness is said to be politically correct.
Whether an organisation uses politically correct terms is a matter for that organisation but should be treated seriously. Whether one agrees with political correctness or not, some terms are offensive and may breach discrimination and/or vilification laws. In the end, common sense surely dictates that if a client dislikes a particular term, donít use it.

Keep in mind that language changes. What is politically correct today may not always be so.
