Incorporated association

An incorporated association is where an association of persons, such as a group, become a separate body under law by following certain processes and registering information with Government bodies. Incorporated associations are regulated under State and Territory laws such as the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld). This involves a range of requirements. Among others, it must:

be formed for a lawful purpose
have at least seven (7) members
not exist for financial gain of members
have a Constitution/Rules
have insurance
have office bearers
meet regularly and hold an annual general meeting
submit audited financial returns.
